2019 WWE Crown Jewel Results, Resumes, Ratings: Major Change Of World Titles Among Surprising Results

While the second installment of WWE Crown Jewel – the company's fourth stream in Saudi Arabia – took some time to continue, there were a few moments in the show that fans will appreciate. Most of all, it was a big unexpected change of title as part of the surprising finishes of the two heavyweight championships on the map.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velazquez made his WWE debut in the first match of his longstanding deal with the company. "Boxing Heavyweight Champion" Tyson Fury had his first wrestling match and was filled with the pomp and circumstance one would expect from a Fury match. WWE also hosted its first women's match in Saudi Arabia at a time that deserves some praise, but also received some criticism.

And what came down on Thursday? CBS Sports has been with you all the way to update this story with scores, ratings and highlights below. Subscribe to the Brian Campbell State of War podcast for our response to Crown Jewel and the rest of the professional wrestling world.

9 WWE Crown Jewel Results, Degrees

Humberto Carillo Wins 20-Man Battle Royal, Becomes # 1 Kickoff Show Claimant: Surprisingly, with eight big name contestants left, like Buddy Murphy , R-Truth and Andrade were eliminated, leaving Eric Rowan, Luke Harper, Cedric Alexander and Humberto Carilo as the last four. Fans chanted Harper from the bat and he eliminated Alexander. After a short break (see below), the former partners joined Carilo twice. However, as they tried to remove him, Carilo slid under their feet on the apron of the ring and tilted them both over the top rope to win. One of the more creative bitcoin royal finishes we've seen in a while save a boring match. Degree: C-

24/7 Championship – R-Truth def. Sunil Singh (c) via pinfall to win the title (Kickoff Show): After both were eliminated from the battle royal, Truth lost Singh outside the ring in the change of title that jumped out of the crowd.

WWE Championship – Brock Lesnar (c) def. Cain Velazquez by Submission to Preserve Title: The match is contested in a mixed martial arts style, with Lesnar and Velazquez fighting and hitting each other. Velazquez grabbed Lesnar in the middle section with a knee, which sent Lesnar to fall back. However, when Velazquez tried to hit and hit the champion, Lesnar kicked Velazquez's injured knee from under him and grabbed the competitor in the Kimura lock, eventually winning a tap. Lesnar refused to clear the hold, so Ray Mysterio grabbed a chair and hit Lesnar from behind. Lesnar was unharmed, hit Mysterio with the F5 on the chair and threw him out of the ring. As Lesnar attacked Velazquez with a chair, Mysterio returned with another and defeated the hell out of Lesnar with him, causing him to escape. The reservation made no sense as Velazquez quickly lost his first match and Mysterio (on Raw) continued his rivalry with Lesnar (on SmackDown). The MMA aspect was clever, but the title was not needed in this match. This may lead to a Survivor match between Lesnar and Mysterio, but it is clear that this is derived from WrestleMania. The interest was high and there was some good action with the chair, but Velazquez's omission was somewhat confusing. Class: C

Mysterio summons Lesnar: Later in the show, Mysterio credits Lesnar for defeating Velazquez, but Misteriro said Lesnar would pay for everything which he did to his son Dominic and their family soon.

OK definition. The Viking Raiders use pinfall to win the Tag World Cup: Ivar successfully defeats the Magic Killer, but The O.C. managed to throw him out of the ring and concentrate on Eric, hitting him with the finisher to secure the victory, the trophy and the title of "best label team in the world". Although the final match was not spectacular, the whole excitement of the tag team was quite entertaining with legitimately good team action throughout the period. It certainly exceeded expectations, especially in the first, fourth and sixth games (full order listed below). Degree: B

  • Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode def. Lucha House Party by defeat after Ziggler outmaneuvered Gran Metalik behind the referee and Roode hit the glorious DDT.
  • Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode def. Zack Ryder and Kurt Hawkins while spinning after the duo hit Ryder's zig-zag helmet.
  • Heavy technique def. Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode via pinfall since Roode was downloaded with Compactor.
  • New Day def. Heavy Attack Technique when Kofi Kingston hits Tucker with trouble in paradise after an exciting comeback and forward between teams.
  • New Day Def. The B-Team via pinfall as Big E quickly hits Curtis Axel with the Big End.
  • New Day Def. The Rebirth by Rivalry in a tough duel ending with Kingston spinning Scott Dawson. After being eliminated, Dash Wilder entered the ring and the Rebirth hit Kingston's Shatter Machine before their SmackDown team title match on Friday night.
  • O.C. definition. A New Day by Defeat taking Kingston with the Magic Assassin. O.C. tried to take advantage of the Renaissance attack, but initially failed before taking down Kingston shortly thereafter.

Mansour def. Cesaro via pinfall: Just as Mansoor seemed to be picking up speed, Cesarno nailed it with a European top as the local product dived out of the ring. Mansoor waved Caesar with a stiff enzyme followed by a hurricane that threw him out, a cannon cannon and a two-ton DDT. Cesaro plunged Mansour first into the upper blanket as he climbed to the top and followed with an avalanche-like trough, but received only 2.5. Mansoor kicked out of a number of other close finishes and escaped from a cross surface, almost nailing Caesar after hitting him with a superkit and falling over him. Mansoor turned another avalanche-like gutwrench suplex into a powerful bomb and struck a picture-perfect moon at last for victory. While it is obvious that WWE is pushing for and positioning Mansoor over Saudi Arabia's relationship, you cannot take away his efforts. Mansoor looked like a future superstar for a real deal for the WWE, and Cesaro did a great job calling the whole match and putting the young man over. The crowd was hot and the two men surrendered. Degree: B +

Tyson Fury def. Brown Stroyman by Count: The match started with a mix between fight and boxing. Strowman took down Fury with his right hand outside the ring, but Fury caught a charging Strowman with a double boot. Fury avoided putting his thumb in and struck Strowman's fallen finger, followed by a large shoe. Strowman grabbed a running Fury by the helmet and was successful with two running shoulders. As Strugman tried to climb back into the ring, Fury connected with his right cross and knocked him out of the apron of the ring and into the barricade. Strowman rose to seven and stumbled around, but failed to reenter before the count of 10. Angry Strouman struck a running cart at the celebrating Fury afterwards, but Fury quickly stood up and called out to Strugman. This was never going to be a good match, but Fury did well enough and the finish was clever, especially with Strugman being given the opportunity to hit the finish. Degree: C

24/7 Championship – Samir Singh def. R-Truth (c) via pinfall to win the title: Leaning in a corner backstage, Truth tried to escape but came across a pair of closed doors and knocked.

US Championship – AJ Styles (c) def. Humberto Carillo via pinfall to retain the title: The crowd was dead for a good match after spending all its energy on Mansoor and Fury. Carillo jumped out of the middle and then the top of the corkball, and the contestants traded in enzigers and pellets. When Carilo tapped his knee on the counter, Stiles focused on him and locked the competitor in a calf crusher (as he did on Raw). This time Carilo reached the bottom of the rope. But a broken moon scarf stretched his knee again, and Stiles caught him with a phenomenal forearm. Solid action throughout and the right outcome in the end. This will not get the credit it deserves. Degree: B

Natalia Def. Lacey Evans by Submission: In the first WWE Saudi women's match, the contestants not only wore full-length bodysuits, but also loose T-shirts to cover any characteristics. It was clear that these were last-minute accessories to the outfit, and they certainly dispelled some in the beginning. Natalia got a big pop at her entrance and had to hold back her tears when the match started at a really moving moment. The crowd chanted "this is great" as the action rose. There were some bright spots, but the action was more muted when Natalia won via Sharpshooter. She comforted Evans after the match, and the women raised their hands and cheered as the dawn dawned. "The evolution of women is taking another step tonight," exclaimed Michael Cole. "These two women achieved something we never thought we would see." The women held hands and hugged a Saudi woman in the ring, who seemed to play a part in the match. The emotions of the women were obviously real. Some small credit to WWE by doing this. Cole, who is trying to master the progressiveness of Saudi Arabia, abducted by her. Class: C

Team Hogan (Roman Reinis, Rusev, Ricochet, Ali and Shorty G) against Team Fleir (Randy Orton, Drew McIntyre, King Corbin, Bobby Lashley and Shinsuke Nakamura): Had a Very Fast tags in the beginning, with everyone getting a pair of minutes in the ring. Reigns received the hot mark and ran through Team Flair both in the ring and in the ring. Orton escaped from an attempt to nail down after Superman hit, and the heels began hitting their finishers. As they were about to gather for Reigns, Rusev entered the ring and cleared the house, facing Lashley alone. Reigns took everyone out with a spray over the top rope and turned Orton into the ring to finish the job. Orton countered Reigns' copy with RKO, but Reigns fired at 2.8. As Orton was getting ready to kick Raines' kick, Shorty D grabbed his leg and Ali took him down. Ricochet, Ali and Shorty D all moved out of the ring to remove the heels, and Raines hit Orton with a spear for the expected 1-2-3. The crowd was hot for the action here, and while the 10-man non-elimination match was a big deal, the reservation worked with the fake final and Reigns finally passed. A for effort, but in reality … Degree: B +

Universal Championship – "The Fiend" by Bray White, def. Seth Rollins via pinfall to win the title (Falls Count Anywhere): This match cannot be stopped for any reason. Fiend immediately took Rollins' hand and did not sell Stomp in the ring area, killing Rollins on the ring ring. Then Rollins sent Wyatt to burst through the barricade and hit him with the top of the speaker's table before placing tables on top of each other. Rollins tried to hammer a hammer into Fiend's head on a steel chair, but was caught with Mandible's fingernail. He escaped with a few hammer shots, but Feyd slammed his neck. Then Fiendus pulled out, throwing a satan at the announcement table, but he kicked into one. Rollins placed Fienda on the elbow drop on the announcement table with a chair, but instead Fienda knocked him from the top rope through the double tables on the other side of the ladder.

Feed lurched Rollins and lifted the lining of the ring to reveal a steel grate, but as he tried to hit Sister Abigail, Rollins kicked him and punched him with steel steps before striking his stomach on the steel grate. The fennel kicked in two. Shots on the chair followed, and though Fiend caught Rollins with Sister Abigail on a raised platform, Rollins kicked in two. The men reached the scene where Rollins hit a third Stomp; The fiend immediately rose. Rollins hit five more Stomps (eight in total), but Fiend kept moving and the crowd boomed slightly. Then Rollins hit three supercars, firing Wyatt from the stage and into a burning pit. The fire extinguishers soothed the flames, but as Rollins removed the roadbox to gain access, sparks were cast in Rollins's eyes. Fiende stood up and gave Rollins Mandible the claw, followed by Sister Abigail to win the title. The lights went out before Wyatt was revealed on stage with the universal title and flashing lights.

Interesting developments in the likes of Fiend, the SmackDown superstar, is now a universal Raw champion, just weeks after WWE's promise of a true split with no crossover between appearances. The match itself was good – since the first was between Rollins and Fiend – the difference was that this one had a far better ending that made sense in terms of Fiend's character. The story was well told and the action was brutal the entire time Rollins took up much of the punishment. Rating: B +
