2020 Toyota Supra vs. BMW Z4, Chevrolet Corvette, Ford Mustang and Nissan 370Z

Everyone on the Internet seems to have a say about Toyota Supra for 2020, and that's why it's good. This is a floor sign that deeply resonates with world-class driving enthusiasts. To return such a sought-after sports car after a long break from the US market, there is a very passionate comment about the armchair.

Let's balance the solid numbers to see how the Supra has a platform similar to the BMW Z4 platform and how it compares with the Chevrolet Corvette, the Ford Mustang GT [Performance Level II Option]

Engine and Transmission [19659004] Since the creation of the Supra sign in 1
979, the sports coupé has always been powered by a built-in six-cylinder engine. This remains true for the new model, but with a contradictory warning: the engine is supplied by BMW. Still, the turbocharged engine is 15 horsepower and another 50 pound-ft torque from the previous Mark IV Supra Turbo. However, it is slightly less than the other cars in this comparison.

To add insult to injury – especially for fans of manual transmissions – Supra will initially be available with only eight-speed automatic transmission. The same goes for Z4. There are rumors about the possible setting of three pedals, but for now they are all – rumors.

In sharp contrast, you can only get the Mustang level II package with six-step manual. The Chevrolet Corvette is one of the few production cars in the world that offers a seven-speed stick change, but you get an extra gear if you choose automatically. Nissan's aging Nismo 370Z also lets you choose between manual or automatic, but with a conventional six-speed unit if you want to set your own, and seven speeds with your automatic.

Performance

Supra sets stable performance figures, but according to official carmaker estimates, this is actually one of the slower cars in this group. The BMW Z4, with its extra power and torque, but with a similar weight, beats Supra with 0.2 seconds to 60 miles per hour. The fastest car here is the Chevrolet Corvette. His LT1 V8 is much more powerful, but quite remarkable is that he has about 100 pounds to roll over.

As it is significantly larger (including a little useable rear seat), the Ford Mustang is much heavier than the other cars here. However, he is making tremendous power and sending it on the road effectively with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Nissan may have 15 horsepower more than Supra, but with a torque of 89 pounds, it is likely to be the slowest 0-60 time if Nissan gave official numbers 0-60.

Styling

It seems to me that Supra looks good overall, but I think it's too much (I blame all these fake openings). For my money, the fourth-generation Supra of the 1990s was simpler in design, but even more impressive. Compared to this, Supra 2020 seems to be trying too hard. The Z4 has more exquisite flanges and an attractive back, but the front is almost too much a toad.

I have not yet created pleasant feelings at the back end of the C7 Corvette, but it's beautiful everywhere else. Mustang's Mitsubishi car makes it an excellent among these more purposeful sports cars, but it still looks great with its gentle mix of modern and retro style.

370Z Nismo, for me, is easily at least appealing. car in this bunch. I'm putting off the headlamps and rear lights of the boomerang, but I'm mostly worried about its front end. Fortunately, the nose of the standard 370Z does not look so offensive to me.

The Supra interior is not bad, but obviously there are a lot of BMW inside. My biggest problem lies in the steering wheel, which looks too big and clear. The interior of the Z4 is better done, with more contrasting light that gives a better finish.

The Corvette has been developing for years, but its envelope still looks great and remains refreshing. This is particularly impressive, given that the Corvettes' generations contain interiors with funny, cheap materials. The current Mustang S550-generation in 2015 significantly improved its interior. His design is retro but the update has helped the age more gracefully. The interior of the 370Z, on the other hand, looks the way it really is. I do not think Nissan is a bad place to live, but the cabin – along with the rest of the car – has long been redesigned. It is on the market since 2009.

Technology and Safety

The new Supra offers standard cab technology, with a modest 6.5-inch iDrive-controlled display. The BMW Z4 is better equipped with a 10.25-inch iDrive-controlled display or touch screen. The addition of the Bimmer display is a 12.3-inch digital instrument.

Corvette may be one of the older cars in this assembly, but it's not in the hands of the cabinet. Standard features include 4G LTE Wi-Fi, as well as an 8-inch touchscreen that works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A 8-inch display is also located in front of the driver. Satellite radio is also standard, while Bose nine-speaker system encompasses the driver and the passenger.

When choosing the Mustang Level II specification, Ford requires a technology update package. As a result, you get an 8-inch Sync 3 touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a stereo with nine loudspeakers, a satellite radio and a 4.2-inch instrument panel display

As Nismo sits on the top of the Z range you get premium features like Built-in Navigation on a 7-inch touchscreen, along with the eight-speaker Bose audio system, satellite radio and DVD video playback (how does it return?).

with standard driver assistance technology. It includes an automatic brake to prevent pedestrian collisions, a tolling warning, and traffic sign recognition. Z4 is standard equipped with all this, except that it is not necessary to identify the road signs.

Corvette and Nismo 370Z do not offer state-of-the-art driver assistance systems. At the core of the Performance Pack II Mustang level, Chevy and Nissan are the same. However, the Mustang can be equipped with an automatic pedestrian emergency stop, adaptive speed adjustment system, belt assist and rain screen wipers. really stand out in this fairy tale. Buyers will appreciate that it is equipped with the latest driver safety systems, but for most buyers safety is not the most important thing – the praise for productivity is. When you factor the performance of Supra at its cost, it does not seem to set new standards among sports cars available around this overall price point.

If you want to be among the first to own Supra this summer, the price will be higher. The top 1,500 will be Launch Edition cars based on the top 3.0 Premium Supra and will have $ 56,180 including a destination.

With Mustang and 370Z you can save thousands while generating more impressive numbers. For just $ 815 more than the Launch Edition Supra, you can get the basic Corvette Stingray, which is lighter, more powerful and equipped with more cab technology. The Z4 M40i can withstand a few thousand of its base price, but it may be a good choice for someone who is not impressed with Supra's exterior and / or interior, or, inevitably, for shoppers who are conscious. ] Pricing Comparison

Vehicle Price (with Destination)
Toyota Supra $ 51850
BMW Z4 M40i $ 65690
Chevrolet Corvette Stingray $ 56995
Ford Mustang GT Performance Package Level II $ 44950
Nissan 196Z Nismo
$ 46585

With all this in mind, it's really going to happen how the new Supra moves. Fortunately, Roadshow chief editor Tim Stevens got a breakthrough in a prototype version and in his short car experience he was pleased with it. That said, it was an early model to quote his words: "Additional testing is needed."

As soon as we have some time behind the wheel of a Supra representative, we will have a better sense of whether his driving style can strengthen his relatively ordinary numbers.
