2020 WGC-St. Jude Invitational ranking, withdrawal: Ricky Fowler in dispute after the second round

What originally looked like Brooks Koepka’s trail became an eclectic ranking on Friday morning at WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational. Koepka is still involved, but is now chasing instead of leading.

Koepka is not alone among the persecutors. He is joined by Ricky Fowler, Jason Day, Web Simpson and Justin Thomas. They are all trying to escape Brendan Todd, who is the only player with double figures below face value so far this week on the 11th floor. Let’s take a look at his round and what the rest of the board looks like, moving to round 3 on Saturday.

1. Brendan Todd (-11) ̵

1; I’m worried about golfers who are not elite strikers of balls existing at the top of the rankings based only on the release. Todd hits the ball well, but the lion’s share of his shots through 36 holes is won by the greens of this event. It is not stable in a mediocre field, much less in this a field where the best players on the planet lurk.

2. Ricky Fowler (-9) – Really clean two days from Fowler, who has only two donkeys in the first 36 holes and is second in the field near the hole. I keep coming back to something he said on Thursday so I don’t think about swinging anymore, but rather about trying to hit. It works through some tweaks and seems to have taken so far to really hit.

“[I] I really focused a little more on things I could think of or keep things as far as my thoughts go, “Fowler said this week.” What can I do on the golf course think compared to working on a swing on the track and how to split it. … I just try not to worry too much about the swing and the kind of going back to think about some basics and how the body moves and the weight is on the right side, and when the weight is back to the left, I just allowed myself to go to play and take golf pictures. “

You can’t live very long on the PGA Tour worrying about all these different nuances, and Fowler’s statistics and scores reflect that he worries less than those and more about what the card actually says.

T3. Ben, Anne, Chez Reavie Brooks Koepka (-7) and 6. Sung Kang (-6) – He tripled from 3 feet on his 11th hole of the day and finished last on the field in the release on Friday. Not good. The better news is that this is the best thing that has hit him all year. He is first from tee to green and first in photos of approach. On Friday, the swing looked huge despite 1 over 71. If that’s possible, I actually am More ▼ encouraged after Friday the 71st than I was after the 62nd Thursday because now I saw a tendency on multiple events to hit the ball really, very well. It must be adhered to throughout the weekend.

T7. Sungjae Im, Louis Oosthuizen, Webb Simpson, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Jason Day (-5) – The encouraging thing about Day is that he does it more than this to green than with his butter (which he often does). The day, despite the back that seems to pass at any minute, has quietly been really good over the last month. He was my bedroom this week at 40-1. I’m not really tall for him, he actually wins, considering the quality of this board, but at least he looks like he could make it interesting in the last two days.

T12. Kevin Na, Justin Thomas (-4) “I may or may not just say it because he was my chosen one this week, but Thomas’ statistic profile is absolutely perfect if you’re looking for someone to have a great weekend.” Thomas is top five from tee to green and bottom 10 in the run. The passenger will bounce back on how harmless it has been in the first two days, and he will probably fire a few rounds in the middle to the high 60’s. Or at least that’s what I’ll keep saying.
