We have already seen the new, but this is our first completely clear idea of an SUV. The 2022 Tucson will be sold worldwide in long and short wheelbase variations depending on the region. Here in the United States – as well as in China and Korea – we will get the long-base version, so this is what we will focus on.
The biggest change for the fourth generation is the bold new exterior design, which Hyundai calls “parametric dynamics”. The 2022 Tucson looks fantastic from almost every angle, starting with the aggressive,front end. There you will find a massive geometric grille that integrates 10 “semi-mirror” daytime running lights, which are perfectly hidden when deactivated, but are revealed when lit. Meanwhile, the main headlights and high beams are stored in smaller grille holes under the DRL.
There is somein the sloping roofline of the SUV and the convex fenders, but overall the SUV is much sharper and angular in general, with more upright proportions. Around the rear of the triangular Tucson taillights are connected by a full-width light strip.
Inside, the Tucson is designed around what Hyundai calls the Interspace concept, emphasizing the space with the shape and detail of the two-stage dashboard. The chrome wraps around the front passengers, integrating the air vents and flows into the waterfall-style infotainment stack, highlighted by the 64-color atmospheric lighting.
Front and center, the Tucson features an optional 10.25-inch touchscreen for navigation over the lower capacitive touchscreen with more infotainment shortcuts and climate and media controls. At the entry levels of equipment, the main display goes down to the still quite large 8-inch module. Anyway,and are standard. Also standard is a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster that moves, without a hood, in front of the steering wheel and driver’s seat.
Technology does not stop at the dashboard; Hyundai’s smart intelligent parking technology, which debuted on the Sonata and allows drivers to remotely tow the car in or out of a tight parking space at the touch of a button, will also be available. It also has the full safety kit of Hyundai SmartSense (there is a twist of the tongue), a mobile adaptive cruise control that works when stopping and moving, an advanced lane management assistant and more.
Hyundai Digital Key technology will allow owners to use a smartphone as a vehicle key. The digital key will allow drivers to lock and unlock the doors, start the engine and start using Bluetooth and NFC technology. The phone can even be used to remotely start the car and activate climate controls from a distance of up to 90 feet.
Tucson will be available in conventional, hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions. In its engine room will be housed either a 2.5-liter Smartstream four-cylinder engine that produces 190 horsepower and 182 pounds feet of torque, or a turbocharged hybrid system.
The 1.6-liter turbocharged four-drum turbo makes 180 horsepower and 195 pounds feet of torque, which is complemented by an electric motor for a total system power of 230 horsepower and 258 pounds feet of torque. This looks like the same hybrid drivetrain aswith probably the same lithium-ion battery of 1.49 kWh for HEV and 13.8 kWh for PHEV.
The cost-effectiveness and scope of the additives have not yet been specified, but we expect these details to be revealed at the launch of Tucson in 2022. We also expect to learn more about the upcoming. The previous generation received ; the next N Line should be a global start.
