The 2022 Mercedes-Benz CLS 450 4MATIC arrives with a refresh, which gives the coupe an inspired sedan an updated look and improved technology. Sales in the United States begin in early 2022 and the company is not yet discussing pricing.
The 2022 CLS is now available as standard with the AMG Line styling package on the outside, which includes various side skirtings and glossy black finish. The sedan carries a redesigned front bumper with a smoother design for the entrances to the lower facade, and the front splitter is now chrome. The upright grille gets a three-dimensional model of a Mercedes-Benz star with a chrome glass surface. The LED headlights are clear in the outer corner, instead of being amber in the current model. There are chrome, trapezoidal drop tips on the back. A simulated diffuser passes between the pipes.
Starling Blue Metallic is now the exterior color of the paint. New designs with five double and many spokes are also available for the 19-inch wheels. The 20-inch tracks get Tremolite Gray or High-Gloss Black color options.
Inside, the 2022 CLS has a fixed steering wheel with capacitive sensors to control the car’s characteristics and has a Nappa leather cover. Buyers have advanced options to choose brown walnut Open Pore and gray wood with high gloss. The two-tone Neva Gray / Magma Gray and Sienna Brown / Black are new options for leather upholstery.
The CLS 450 gets a turbo 3.0-liter built-in six-cylinder engine with an integrated soft generator hybrid starting system. The internal combustion engine makes 362 horsepower (270 kilowatts) and 369 pounds feet (500 Newton meters). The starter generator can contribute up to 21 hp. (16 kW) and a torque of 250 Nm. The drivetrain goes through a nine-speed automatic all-wheel drive system.
Mercedes’ notification of changes only applies to the CLS 450 4MATIC. Asked about other options, the company said Motor1.com: “The facelift CLS 2022 will be available in the US exclusively as the CLS 450 4MATIC.”
