LINCOLN, Neb. – Recent data from the Department of Health and Human Resources in Nebraska say that 24 people died of influenza caused by this flu season, including five in Lancaster County. which was updated on Friday, says about the 24 deaths, two were deaths in pediatrics. The average age of those killed by the causes of influenza is 69. The data includes reports from September 30, 2018 to this week.
Figures do not include other deaths of infants considered to be influenza in Adams County. An autopsy is scheduled for this week to determine if the flu is responsible.
Over the past week, more than 4300 people were admitted to hospitals in Nebraska for influenza symptoms, with only over 25% of patients being positive for influenza.
