Just when I thought things couldn̵

7;t get worse for the San Francisco 49ers, they did. Last week, headlines dominated by rashes from week 2 injuries, with the Niners taking their weight during their victory over the New York Jets. Complaints about the quality of the turf at MetLife Stadium prompted the NFL to investigate, but no problems were found.

Returning to the crime scene to face the New York Giants, the 49ers saw another key player come down with an injury, with a stern end Jordan Reed immediately grabbed him by the ankle after trying to make a touch in the back of the the final zone first quarter.

Reed left the game to be evaluated by the team’s medical staff, but later returned, only to leave again with an obvious knee injury. This knee injury, according to Niners coach Kyle Shanahan, is a sprained MCL and will keep Reid away for 6-8 weeks.

The 49 were without a list of the best talents for this game against the Giants, including Jimmy Garopolo, Nick Bosa, Solomon Thomas, Dee Ford, Rahim Mostert, Tevin Coleman and others. George Kittle, ruled out of the Giants game, has joined a number of key players who are breastfeeding injuries for the second week in a row, and that made Reed all the more valuable to the crime. Even without all these players available, the Niners managed to blow the giants off the field with a 36-9 victory.

When Reed is down, the Niners will likely turn to Ross Dwelley for extended photos if Kittle has to sit for another week. Fortunately, rookie Brandon Ayuk quickly gained momentum and contributed significantly to the victory against New York, and second-year receiver Deebo Samuel should start training this week.
