Foxes from the fleet: Shore [ANTI-]

Released on the autumnal equinox, Fleet Foxes̵

7; fourth album, Shore, finds that frontman Robin Pecknold “composes some of the liveliest music of his career,” as Pitchfork news editor Matthew Strauss wrote in his review. In the song “Sunblind”, Pecknold pays tribute to his late songwriting characters; in Quiet Air / Joya, he reflects on the life cycle. The album, Strauss writes, has a “natural feeling, as if guitars, drums and horns flutter and float on the breeze next to the birds.”

Sufyan Stevens: The ascension [Asthmatic Kitty]

Sufjan Stevens’ latest album marks a return to the synth-oriented sound of his 2010 album The era of Adz. Recorded at Catskills after the singer and composer moved from New York, The ascension is based on “a call for personal transformation and a refusal to play alongside the systems around us.” It was led by the singles “America”, “Video Games” and “Sugar”.
