Police and FBI agents arrested a Delta Airlines employee Thursday for his alleged role in stealing $ 300,000 cash from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, a law enforcement source told NBC New York.
The suspect, the ramp agent of Quincy Thorpe, was brought to his home in New York early Thursday morning by FBI agents and New York and New Jersey port police officers. He is expected to appear before a federal judge in Brooklyn Thursday afternoon.
Thorpe is a ramp agent who emerged "ill" at the time the money disappeared, according to the source.
The money, which includes both the US and foreign currency, disappeared before being loaded on a Delta Flight 1
The money has not yet been recovered.
"The alleged actions of this employee are unacceptable and in no way reflect the professionalism and values we expect from Delta Team members," Delta Airlines said in a statement.
"We take this situation very seriously and work directly with the authorities investigating them, as well as conducting our internal investigation. "
