A family asking for prayers after identifying the remnants of Texas teenager missing in Texas Thomas Braun



The remains found near Canadian, Texas are identified as Thomas Brown, 18, who disappeared from the area since November 2016

The press release does not mention the cause of Thomas's death. Two months after Thomas disappeared, his backpack was about four miles from where his car was found. About 10 months later, on a subsequent search, there is Thomas's phone. It was five miles from where his backpack was, nine miles from the car.

Tomas was in high school in high school when he disappeared.

"The first year, when Thomas was missing, we wanted to grant a scholarship in his honor because he did not graduate with his class," Penny told Dateline in November. "We hope we can raise enough money to get a Canadian scholarship each year, but we can also grant scholarships throughout the Panhandle period."

Penny added that the scholarship is to honor Thomas, and also to return to the people who have helped her and her family for the past two years.

"I have no words to describe the support we have received in Panhandle," she said. "I received messages from people around the world."
