TIMES SQUARE, Manhattan – A fire broke out at a Times Square restaurant, sending heavy smoke into Manhattan on Sunday morning.
Firefighters responded to an explosion that erupted at a restaurant on West 45th St. Near Seventh Avenue just after 7:30 p.m., fire officials said. The fire then spread to an adjoining door building, fire department officials said.
It is believed to be under control shortly before 9:00 p.m., Fire Department employees.
Three people suffered minor injuries, fire officials. Two refused medical attention. The third was taken to a hospital for shortness of breath.
Videos from the Citizen app and pedestrians show thick, heavy smoke coming from the top of the building as pedestrians stop to look at the scene.
Authorities advise everyone to expect traffic delays and a strong presence of emergency personnel in the area of West 45th Street and Avenue of America.
