Connecticut police say they found a kidnapping victim while stopping a man wanted by Pennsylvania police.
Police in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, warned Connecticut authorities Monday afternoon that robbery suspect Jose Alberto Claudio-Diaz was traveling through the state, Connecticut state police said.
Shortly after receiving the request, state police stopped Claudio-Diaz in Trump, according to a summary of criminal information in the case. When he was stopped, police found a woman who had been transferred “across state lines without her consent,” according to the summary.
Claudio-Diaz was arrested and charged with kidnapping and assaulting a public safety officer. Bond was set at $ 300,000 before his initial appearance at Bridgeport Supreme Court on Tuesday morning, according to the criminal summary.
It was unclear whether Claudio-Diaz had a lawyer.
Bethlehem police did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the details of the robbery. Connecticut State Police said there was no new information to spread.
At a news conference Tuesday, state police said they believed the victim had been abducted in Pennsylvania and that the two were on their way to Springfield, Massachusetts, NBC Connecticut reported.
