A 45-year-old man has been arrested on murder charges after a woman's body was found confined in a concrete and timber structure in the Nevada desert.
Christopher Prestipino is charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and first-degree kidnapping, according to court records. Detectives located the body in the desert north of Las Vegas on Oct. 8 and tied it to the case of a missing person since late May, according to NBC affiliate KSNV.
The Clark County Prosecutor's Office identified the woman as 24-year-old Esmeralda Gonzalez.
Las Vegas metropolitan police were advised in July that Prestipino may be involved with a woman who disappeared on May 31
Prestipino was arrested on Friday, just three days after the discovery of a body enclosed in concrete.
Gonzalez lives one mile from Prestipino's residence and reports that he disappeared from his brother after he found her front door unlocked and was unable to reach her for days, according to Las Vegas Review . Court documents say Prestipino strangled Gonzalez and injected her with a pool cleaner, the newspaper reported.
Prestipino's lawyer did not respond to a request for comment from NBC News.
