A man is dead after being struck by train 4 on Kingsbridge Road in the Bronx on Monday.
The FDNY says it responded at 8 a.m. and found two people on the tracks. An elderly man was pronounced dead at the scene while the other man was taken to Jacobi Medical Center with minor injuries. The first responders also treated two passengers in the subway, who jumped on the tracks to help, an FDNY spokesman said.
A NYPD spokesman confirmed that the other victim was a five-year-old girl. PIX 11 reports the man is her father: "Authorities say the man jumped in front of a Manhattan-bound on-board train # 4 at Kingsbridge Road while holding his 5-year-old daughter … a photo provided by PIX11 News shows her vigilance and seeming crying while being held by an FDNY employee at the scene. "
The subway service along the 4 has delays this morning after the incident:
4 service was stopped between Woodlawn and Burnside Av until NYPD investigating after someone was hit by a train on Kingsbridge Rd. Expect delays.
