“Community Destroyed,” reads the trailer for a new neighborhood documentary just a short jump from Elon Musk’s SpaceX facilities in South Texas.
Tonight (September 21) “Vice Versa: Between Musk and Mars” is broadcast (22:00, Vice TV). The manufacturers call it an investigation into what happens when SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk “moves around and carries his rockets with him.”
They say Musk is quietly organizing the takeover of the small retirement village of Boca Chica, where he hopes to launch his rockets, house his staff, build a simulated village on Mars and eventually send 1 million people to Mars by 2050. that it is destroying the wildlife corridor and forcing local retirees to leave their homes and communities.
“I moved from a nice, quiet holiday home to a military zone,” said one resident.
“You need to get out of your home to avoid injury,” said another, reading from a warning sent to her.
On the other hand, Musk also brings jobs and diversifies the economy of one of the poorest counties in the United States.
Between Musk and Mars provides an insight into detainees who refuse to leave the isolated village and the tactics SpaceX uses to get them out of their homes. This is a battle that was widely reflected in history in the Atlantic earlier this year.
