GREEN BAY, Wisconsin – Aaron Rodgers returns to “Danger!” This time, however, the Green Bay Packers quarterback will host instead of a competitor.
He revealed on Tuesday that he has been asked to host an episode of his favorite show – one in which he appeared in the show’s celebrity edition in 2015.
Rodgers, who is preparing for Saturday’s NFC playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams, first mentioned him during his weekly appearance on The Pat McAfee. He later apologized for releasing the news.
A Jeopardy! Spokesman declined to comment, saying no announcements had been made about future guest hosts.
“I may have skipped the gun a little, so I apologize to Danger! Danger!”
“For the last 16 years, my house here in Green Bay has been a staple food – I watch Alex at 6 o’clock [Trebek] and I try to get as many questions as possible. “
Trebeck, the show’s longtime host, died of cancer at the age of 80 on November 8.
“When the opportunity arises [for ‘Celebrity Jeopardy!’] in 2015, I mean, it was a dream come true – it really was – to be there, Rodgers said. “Meeting Alex was just such a special moment, and we’re all obviously sad about his death.”
“There’s this nostalgic connection to certain figures in our lives based on our childhood and where we’ve been, and the times we’ve had these memories almost make these people feel like family as you know them.”
Rodgers compared the meeting with Trebeck to the first time he met football speakers such as Keith Jackson and Dan Foots, who broadcast one of his games at Cal College, and Pat Sumeral and John Madden when he reached the NFL.
“We all have so much love and affection, I think, for what [Trebek] designed for that half hour, those 22 minutes of our lives every day for those of us who were big fans of the show, “Rodgers said.” So being able to be a guest host is really, really special to me, and I don’t have patience for the opportunity. “
