A new leak suggests that Avowed may be a much bigger undertaking for Obsidian than we originally thought.
openly recognized, an action RPG from Obsidian, was one of the surprising announcements at the Xbox Games show last week. The game was revealed with the help of a short CG trailer, which confirmed the battle in the first person and the emphasis on casting magic spells.
Beyond that, however, very little is known about Avowed. Now, according to a member of the Sponger Resetter Forum, the game is indeed an open-world RPG that is several times larger and denser than Skyrim. There are obviously two big cities in the game, and the open world has big sights and a variety of areas.
Avoidance will include a real-time meteorological system, where it is specifically said that fog plays a big role. Unlike Skyrim, the world of Avowed is said to be more reactive and interactive. Obsidian has ambitious physics simulation goals when it comes to magic. The programmer also uses updated AI systems to create a living world. Companions, while in, will not work exactly as in the Outer Worlds, although details of this remain.
Being in the Pillars of Eternity, Avowed will borrow from and for existing eruditions, creatures and designs. The leak also speaks of battles with bosses, which will obviously mark the main moments.
And for those who can’t spend hours working out all sorts of fine details on their character, Avowed will seemingly have a “very advanced” character creator.
Sponger concluded by saying that the game was already in full production with a team of about 100 people and Obsidian would continue to hire more in the foreseeable future. The studio is currently focused on the end of 2022, the beginning of 2023.
Although Sponger does not have the longest recordings when it comes to Microsoft leaks, he has been confirmed by Klobrille, a different laker that has been solid in the past. This is obviously not a confirmation of anything and you should always run from this nature with a grain of salt. In fact, as pointed out in the original publication, some details may change over time.
Avowed is in development for PC and Xbox Series X.
