Acting Chief of Internal Affairs announces retirement after clashes with Trump officials



POLITICO reported in May that Albence had angered White House staff when he refused to install a number of political appointees in his agency.

Following the departure of Ronald Vitielo as ACE’s Acting Director in April 2019, Albence took on his role until Mark Morgan is appointed to head the agency. Albens was re-elected acting chief of staff when Morgan changed roles to lead customs and border protection.

Albens announced his resignation in a statement issued Friday morning, saying he would work to transition from his role in August.
