What is “perseverance”? A word that can describe your favorite “Danger!” hosted by Alex Trebeck and James Gilligan, a contestant on the last episode of Trebeck.
Gilligan is an assistant professor of English language and literature at San Francisco State University, who has been trying to compete in the iconic show for 30 years.
“I’m trying to be a sophomore in college,” Gilligan said in an interview Friday night with Shepard Smith News.
“It was pretty obvious he had lost a step, but you know, once the cameras started spinning, he was the perfect professional,” Gilligan said. “This man was a titanium in the industry and never gave less than 100%. It was just remarkable to see the level of productivity he managed to achieve despite the battle he was leading.”
Trebeck died on November 8, 2020 at the age of 80. New, permanent host of “Danger!” not yet specified.
“Alex always insisted that he wasn’t the star of the show, that the game itself and the players were the real attraction and the draw,” Gilligan said. “I think whoever will host after him should have the same attitude.”
