Amazon Luna: Move, Google Stadia. The city has a new cloud gaming service

the Amazon moon

Amazon is streaming games with Luna.

Amazon is entering the games. During Amazon’s big device announcement event on Thursday, the internet giant has introduced Luna, its cloud video streaming service for Fire TV, phones, tablets and computers, which rivals Microsoft xCloud and Google’s Stadia.

The Luna Plus subscription will cost $ 5.99 per month as part of an invitation-only early access program. A controller designed for the service will also be sold, with an early access price of $ 50although gamers will also be able to use the Xbox One or PlayStation DualShock 4 controller, as well as a mouse and gaming keyboard.

Running on Amazon’s AWS servers, games will stream at up to 1080p and 60fps at startup (with 4K support, annoyed as “coming soon”), although the full list of titles was not immediately available. The company says games available during the early access period will include Control, Resident Evil 7, GRID, Yooka-Laylee and The Impossible Lair and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons.

Ubisoft will be among the platform’s first notable publishers, including the launch of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla in Luna, although no schedule has been set for when its games will arrive after “soon”

Twitch, the popular gaming-focused video streaming website Amazon bought in 2014., will be integrated into Luna to allow streamers to broadcast during the game. Amazon says those watching Twitch streams who also subscribe to its service will be able to go straight from “watching Twitch to instant play on Luna.”

Amazon recommends a minimum internet connection speed of 10Mbps for streaming Luna games, with 35Mbps specified as a requirement for gaming in 4K.

The company says Luna will be available on Fire TV, Mac and PC, as well as via “web applications” for iPhone and iPad while these devices are running iOS 14. It seems that using web apps is the way Amazon circumvents the restrictions of the Apple Store App Store that were before blocks Microsoft from offering its xCloud gaming service to iPhone and iPad users. Google’s Android isn’t listed as a launch platform, but it’s coming soon.

The exact release date of Luna is not specified, but those interested can request invitation for early access to the Amazon website.
