InnerSloth’s Among us was easily one of the biggest surprises of 2020. Although the game was originally released in 2018, it gained a lot of attention last year when it became a Twitch breakthrough. Suddenly, the game found its main appeal, which slipped away, and its developer was surprised by the newfound attention. A new year is coming, InnerSloth is working hard to maintain this interest and it looks like there are surprises that the company has yet to discuss publicly. In a new interview with GameSpot’s Lucy James, InnerSloth’s Victoria Tran briefly touched on the prospect of future revelations.
“We have some secrets in the works that, unfortunately, I can’t talk about,”
This doesn’t allow many fans to continue, but the prospect of more content should be quite exciting. InnerSloth was obviously not prepared for the increased interest in the game and as a result changed a lot of plans.
“It was terrifying, amazing and wonderful, and there really is no English word to make people realize how surprising and amazing it was,” Tran said.
When it comes to game success stories, it’s hard to make any comparisons Among us. Although many games have found increased interest long after their initial release, this often happens when it is too late for the developer to take advantage. This is not the case for Among us, and InnerSloth seems in a good position to capitalize. The developer has unveiled a number of future updates to the game, including a new Airship map.
As with any online game, however, maintaining interest may be easier said than done. Gamers can be known to be volatile and often move on to the next big thing, despite the best efforts of the developer. It remains to be seen whether this will be the case Among us, but with InnerSloth’s hard work looking for new ways to improve the game, it looks likely that its success will continue for the foreseeable future.
