Microsoft has opened beta registrations for its upcoming Minecraft Earth expanded real mobile game for Android users.
iOS users managed to participate in the beta last month. To play the beta, Android users will need to have an AR-enabled phone running Android 7. or higher.
Minecraft Earth is a Pokémon Go -esque smartphone taking over the popular Minecraft building game. Players will be able to walk in the real world to gather resources that can be used to create any kind of structure, alone or with friends. Then the iOS or Android camera on the phone will revive creations through augmented reality.
For now, however, the beta will only allow users to gather resources and create different creations. Ultimately, Microsoft aims to add adventure modes to the beta that allow users to build with friends. Any builder will be able to share their materials to encourage collaboration.
Android users interested in participating in the beta can sign up at Minecraft Eart h. Microsoft says the beta will appear to players next week.
