DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) – An additional set of people who died with the new coronavirus was reported in the state of Iowa on the last day, as the rate of new infections continued to decline slowly.
At 10:30 a.m. Saturday, the Iowa Department of Public Health said 388 individuals who had tested positive for COVID-19 had been reported since Friday morning. The total number of people who have tested positive since the beginning of the pandemic is now 365,164.
Another 19 people who died of COVID-19 were added to the total number of staff. 5,950 people died in Iowa from the virus.
So far, 2,338,949 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Iowa, an increase of 29,879 since Friday. 1,064,147 people completed their vaccination course, either through the double vaccine or through the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, an increase of 22,685. Iowa ranks 15th in the United States in the percentage of the population fully vaccinated, according to The The New York Times, with about 33.8% of people in the state meeting this standard.
For the first time, the tests of 2014 individuals were reported to the state in the last 24 hours. The degree of positivity for this batch of tests was 19.3%, higher than 13.5% from the previous day. A total of 1,712,154 individuals have been tested for the virus since the beginning of the pandemic.
