Apple is expected to ship between 15 million and 20 million foldable iPhones when they go on sale in 2023, a report said Monday, citing a note from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The phone will have an 8-inch folding display, the analyst predicts, as reported by 9to5Mac.

“We anticipate that foldable devices will blur product segmentation between smartphones, tablets and laptops in the future,” the analyst said. “With its ecosystems and hardware design benefits, Apple will be the biggest winner in the new folding device trend.”

From the reports in January it follows that Apple has already produced a prototype folding iPhone. According to Monday’s report, Apple will work with Samsung to supply the foldable OLED screen.

A recent study showed half of American consumers are still interested in buying foldable phones, with 47% of iPhone owners showing interest, according to a survey by YouGov published last week.

Apple did not respond immediately to a request for comment.
