Following the release of iOS 14.5 on Monday for the public, Apple is moving forward with beta testing of iOS 14.6 and iPadOS 14.6. The company is now releasing the second beta of these developer updates, coming in just over a week after the release of beta 1 for developers and public beta users.
Update: iOS 14.6 beta 2 is also now available for public beta users.
Today’s new version of iOS 14.6 beta 2 is available to developers via an on-air update in the Settings app. As usual, if the update doesn’t appear immediately for download, keep checking, as it sometimes takes a few minutes to distribute to all registered developers. Apple also releases the second beta version of tvOS 14.6 and HomePod Software 14.6 for Apple TV and HomePod. Apple also released the second beta version of watchOS 7.5 for developers.
So far, iOS 14.6 does not include many changes. In fact, the only change we’ve noticed so far is that iOS 14.6 makes it easier for beta users to install RC build and skip other available beta updates.
You can now directly update your iOS or iPadOS device to the latest Release Candidate without removing the beta account. After updating to Release Candidate, you can choose to update to the next available beta or uninstall the account to remove your device from the beta program.
IOS 14.6 is also likely to include new features in the Apple Podcasts app for the upcoming Apple Podcasts subscription platform, which will launch sometime in May.
