Apple’s Best First-Class Deals 2020: Save $ 150 on MacBook Air, $ 63 on iPad Mini

This story is part of Amazon Prime DayThe CNET guide for everything you need to know and how to make sure you get the best deal.

First day no officially launched by tomorrow but we are already seeing compelling deals for a number of Apple products. Apple will also hold its own virtual event tomorrow, which it is expected to unveil iPhone 12 and possibly other new products. We will look in detail at both events here on CNET, of course.

But deals with Apple are already underway on Amazon. These are the best of them at the moment:

  • With a discount of $ 150 excellent 2020 MacBook Air currently selling for $ 850 – the lowest price we’ve ever seen for this model;
  • The iPad Mini sells for $ 336 (save $ 63);
  • AirPods Pro sells for $ 189 in Woot (save $ 60);
  • Standard AirPods, with a wireless charging box, sell for $ 125 (save $ 35).

If last year’s event provides some guidance on what to expect in 2020, we could see the brand new 10.2-inch iPad immersion up to $ 250 (and last year’s model sell for even less), new record low prices for Apple Watch Series 3 and already terminated Series 5 – and perhaps the first significant discounts for Apple Watch Series 6 and the Apple Watch SE too. However, these are speculations. Amazon has not yet announced specific deals for Apple-related Prime Day.

We will closely monitor each Apple product during the preparation for Prime Day, as well as during the event (and after the dust settles). You will have other options outside of Amazon. Walmart, Target, Best Buy and Newegg have competitive sales and often fall behind Amazon when it comes to Apple products. While this is an authorized Apple retailer (such as these stores), we will certainly present them here. For us, the best price always wins.

To this end, in the space below we will monitor current prices and how they are equal to discounts that we have seen in the past. For each product we also included a “hit price” for the entry-level model in this category, which is our best guess at the price at which you should buy and no longer stick to a better deal. Keep in mind that there will often be a good deal for one particular model, size or color and not for another. For example, the Apple Watch’s 44mm GPS may be a better deal than the 40mm GPS at any given time. We will be sure to note the specifics below.

The savings are shown compared to the Apple Store, which virtually always charges the list price for Apple equipment. But to be clear, some of the more modest discounts shown are in practice “daily low prices” at other retailers. We recommend that you wait until sales start next week to see if there are better price drops.

In 2020, Apple upgraded the MacBook Air with an improved keyboard and dual storage and restored it to the sacred price of $ 1,000. Amazon is currently selling it for $ 150 – the lowest price for this model and probably the lowest price we will see during Prime Day. (You’ll see the full sale price when you pay.) Keep in mind that we’re expecting new Macs with iPad-style Apple Silicon chips, probably before the end of the year.

Strike price: $ 850

Introduced in 2019, the Mini has an A12 processor and pencil support – just like the 10.2-inch iPad 2020, which currently sells for $ 299 – but twice as much storage space.

Although it was announced less than a month ago, Amazon and other retailers have already reduced the 10.2-inch iPad to the first level with a cosmic gray color, with the selling price fluctuating between 299 and 319 dollars. For a moment during last year’s holiday season, the discontinued 2019 version was available for $ 229, but the minimum for Prime Day was $ 250. This is a great price for the best iPad for most people and the price we will be looking for this year as well. . Read our review of the Apple iPad 2020.

Currently reduced to match the low price for Black Friday 2019 of $ 169, only the GPS 3 series, which came out in 2017, remains the cheapest model in Apple’s watch portfolio – and, in light of age and its modest feature set the most questionable value. Since the Apple Watch Series SE currently sells for $ 270, it would be difficult to recommend buying the Series 3 even at its current retail price. If Amazon reduces the price significantly lower – maybe. Read our review of the Apple Watch Series 3.

The most expensive, fastest and most functional package, the Series 6 can measure the level of oxygen in your blood and works with the new S6 processor. Both 44mm models are currently priced at $ 15 – which is Amazon’s “standard”, albeit a periodic discount on the latest Apple Watch models. Given that the Series 6 is the current top-of-the-line model and came out only last month, it’s entirely possible that a $ 15 discount will be the best deal we’ll see in the near future. This marked Black Friday could bring even lower prices.

Strike price: Any discount of $ 30 or more

The most affordable Apple Watch ever released, the Watch SE boasts a more powerful processor and Retina display that is 30% larger than the Series 3 and support for Apple’s new family setup plan. Amazon offers a modest $ 9 discount on the 44mm GPS model and the 40mm cell version. Note that the Apple Watch Series 3 currently sells for $ 169.

Apple Watch Series 5, now officially discontinued, has the potential to be one of the stars of Prime Day. As early as September, Amazon reduced the 44mm GPS model to $ 299 – $ 130 cheaper than the 44mm GPS Series 6. Given the meager differences between them – they both end up with a permanent display and heart monitor. – Any Series 5 model that is $ 100 less than the Series 6 equivalent is hassle-free.
