Apple has updated its list of stores for the as-yet-unreleased MagSafe Duo charger with a little more information on how the accessory will work with various power adapters. As noted by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the Duo charges up to 11W with a 20W USB-C adapter, reaching 14W with an adapter that is 27W or higher.
This means that when paired with Apple’s $ 20 20W adapter, the company’s cheapest USB-C charging option, the MagSafe Duo can’t deliver as much power to the iPhone 12 as a 15W MagSafe solo charger. This also means that the fastest possible 14 W option may not match the regular MagSafe washer ̵
At $ 129, the MagSafe Duo would already be an expensive accessory that we wouldn’t recommend to most people. This latest information makes it even more niche, at a potential total cost of almost $ 180, to unlock your not-so-fast top speed. However, it can still be a convenient, compact option for Apple Watch users who don’t want to carry two separate chargers and cables when traveling.
MagSafe Duo has no release date yet; it is referred to as “coming soon”.
