Arizona is using federal money COVID-19 to cut costs in the state

PHOENIX – Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey has channeled nearly $ 400 million in federal coronavirus support to government agencies to help them pay for operations, allowing them to return some of their original budgets to the state treasury.

Ducey’s office said the move was reasonable budgeting to help Arizona avoid a serious fiscal crisis, but Jared Walczak of the Tax Foundation’s Tax Policy Center called it a “very aggressive interpretation” of federal rules.

4,314 additional confirmed cases and 20 deaths were reported in Arizona on Friday.

Earlier this week, experts from Arizona State University said the state could affect hospital capacity in 1

-2 weeks.
