According to NOLA.com, the singer and keyboardist have died at 81. For years Neville has struggled with health problems, but no specific cause of death has been reported. In December 2018, the recipient of the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award announced that he was retiring from music after more than 60 years.
In 2003, Art Neville received the OffBeat Award for Best Musical Achievement Award. 1967 – Performances at Nitecap with Art Neville and Neville Sounds, starring brothers Aaron and Cyril, saxophonist Gary Brown, drummer Joseph Zigabu Modelist, guitarist Leo Knights and bassist George Porter Jr.. The group provides a concert that requires a four-component Ensemble in Bourbon Street, and the quartet continues as a meter.
1972 – The meters are signed with Warner Brothers / Reprise. Following are five albums: The alley for cabbage (1972), Rejuvenation (1974), 1976) – The meters are open for roller stones on American and European tours.

1989 – Daniel Lanno produces a yellow moon in his Esplanade Avenue studio. "Healing Chant" on the album won "Neville" for Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental.
