Some Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Watch dogs: Legion players say they get corrupted save errors in the game’s PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions, erasing hours of progress and in some cases forcing them to start over.
The problem is especially severe for Watch the dogs: Legionwhich supports only one game per campaign – that is, there is no manual saving and many games from earlier points are not saved. End of official Ubisoft forums for Legion there are several players describing the lost progress, with community managers acknowledging that the developers are addressing the issue.
There does not appear to be a sequential event to trigger the interrupt Watch dogs: Legion save the file. Some report that it happened to them from the moment they switched to a new team member. Others say they believe cycling with another team member begins the enrollment process.
One player wondered if playing the game in permadeath mode had anything to do with it. I played a few hours on Watch dogs: Legion on the Xbox Series X since it launched, with the permadeath game brought by Xbox One, and there were no problems. I even did something, uh, saving scum by leaving the dashboard when an operative was about to be killed, and I had no problem starting over, completing a mission, and keeping the data from points ahead.
The problem appears to be permanent, affecting all manual entries from the point of the bug forward. The Ubisoft thread support manager asked a player how much hard disk space they had, but each reported enough (more than 100 GB) of space for such data.
“All manual recordings are corrupt, automatic recordings work and quick recordings do not appear to be damaged,” a player said last week. “So you basically have to wait for automatic saving before you stop the game and hope for the best.”
We contacted a representative of Ubisoft to ask what is there, but we have not yet received an answer.
