OSAKA President Tramp met with Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman in the sidelines of the global summit and called him "my friend", but the president refused to answer the question of whether to lift the Washington Post murder journalist Jamal Hashohi.
Trump baptized bin Salman in a snapshot after they sat down with helpers for a meeting in the sidelines of the 20th Group Summit. But when reporters asked if Trump would deal with the death of Hashogie, who was killed last year in a storyline by US intelligence services made by the Saudi royal family, Trump tried to put an end to the interrogation.
Hashohi, a citizen of Saudi Arabia, lived outside the country with self-imposed exile from 2017 after he had angered the royal family over the critical columns he wrote. He visited the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul in October 2018 to obtain marriage documents when he was kidnapped and killed.
But Trump and other senior officials of the administration have minimized the assassination, which suggests that the United States would be unwise to punish Riyadh or break the ties with Mohammed for the murder because Saudi Arabia is an important United States partner in the Middle East.
In his remarks, Trump called it "a great honor" to be with the king's prince, and noted that "Saudi Arabia is a good buyer of American products."
