Ben Domenech blames Big Tech for censoring Trump, Parler: “We really should be afraid”

Ben Domenech warns against the “dominant force” of the big technology companies following the constant shutdown of Twitter on President Donald Trump’s account and the suspension of Amazon’s Parler from the cloud hosting service.

“This is a situation that I think many of us have long warned on the right,” Domenech, who published The Federalist, told Brian Kilmeid on Fox & Friends on Wednesday.

“They can undermine and behave in a totalitarian way, in ways that openly hate the approaches we have seen in places like China and Russia,”

; he added.

Domenech claims that the permanent suspension of Twitter’s Trump account @realDonaldTrump, which took effect on Friday, is politically motivated.

“This is something I think we should really be afraid of when we see these massive corporations, the most powerful that have ever existed in the world, come together to make a political statement to cut off the most popular Republican. attitude to voting that we have ever seen. This is something that should worry us all, “he said.

Amazon’s actions against Parler will make social media operations “impossible,” Domenech said. Amazon stopped Parler from using Amazon Web Services (AWS), which is the site’s hosting service, effective Sunday night. This follows the suspension of Google and Apple’s conservative messaging app from their app stores.

Parler went offline Monday morning.

“When we talk about what Amazon did with Parler, it’s equivalent to saying, ‘We’ll turn off your power.’ We will turn off the electricity, “he said.

“It’s not just the same as saying, ‘You can’t access this platform or this app store,'” he added. “That makes it impossible for the company to even work.”

Domenech said the legal battle over Big Tech’s censorship could rise to the Supreme Court, adding that he believed Congressional Democrats were likely to keep the issue at the forefront.

“You will only see the fire, I think you will continue to grow when it comes to all these problems,” Domenech said. “Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats in Congress, they’re not interested in pouring water on that, they’re not interested in easing tensions in America right now.”
