Ben Roethlisberger Injury: Steelers QB undergoing elbow surgery will miss the remainder of the 2019 season

The Pittsburgh Steelers did not have a good Sunday afternoon, falling to 0-2 with a loss to the Seattle Seahawks at home. But much more worrying is the injury suffered by franchise quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, which will end his season, the Steelers reported Monday morning.

"Ben Roethlisberger performed an MRI on his right elbow Sunday night and the Steelers medical team determined that surgery would be required," Mike Tomlin said in a statement released by the team. "We expect surgery to be scheduled this week. It will be included in our reserve / injury list and is out of season."

We discussed this on the Pick Six Podcast with CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora, who reported that Ben and the Steelers were "considering" this operation. It sounds as if the surgery is similar to the one Steel suffered with Tommy John, as Roethlisberger is thought to have suffered a UCL injury.

Rehabilitation was possible, but it was probably a difficult battle.

Roethlisberger got an elbow injury in the first half against the Seahawks and immediately saw that something was wrong. He grabbed his elbow and looked at the sideline.

The Steelers took him out and sent him to the locker room. He would return to the page before halftime, but he never played again. It was Mason Rudolf's show the rest of the way.

Rudolph, drafted by the Steelers, will take on the Steelers for the rest of 2019.

The NFL landscape shifts with this news and crows become a massive favorite along with Drew's injury Breis expected to keep it for at least six weeks .

According to SportsLine, the Steelers are generally rehabbing this season with a Ben injury. They were designed after a 0-2 start to finish with a season-high 7.9 wins. Ben to Rudolph, according to these forecasts, cost the Steelers just above a full win for the season, as they are now expected to finish with 6.6 wins for the season. Their chances of winning the division, SportsLine, fell from 13.5 percent after starting 0-2 to 4.7 percent.

Roethlisberger has been surprisingly healthy over the last few years of his career, playing 31 of a possible 32 games in the last two seasons. Roethlisberger led the NFL in passing attempts, passing completions and passing yards last season and was set to try to prove his success was unrelated to Antonio Brown, who strayed from this offseason for the Raiders before eventually landing with the Raiders. .

Brown drew a pass from Tom Brady yesterday while Ben was on the sidelines watching Rudolf take over.
