Beyoncé’s new visual album, Black Is King, arrived on Friday (July 31st).
Bay initially announced the news with a surprising one-minute trailer for the visual album – which was also described as a film – on its website in June, giving fans a first look at Lion King-inspired edition.
Author, director and performer, produced by Beyonce, Black is king premiered worldwide at Disney + about a year after the theatrical release of Lion King a remake that Beyonce expressed Nala.
Black is king is based on the music from Bay’s soundtrack for 2019 for the animated film, The Lion King: The Gift, Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell, Jay-Z and Blue Ivy Carter performed on the set.
The publication promised that the visual album would highlight “the travels of Black families at all times”
