President Biden has not followed the advice of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to shed his mask outdoors and around small groups of other vaccinated people, as he is taking “extra precautions,” a White House aide said Sunday.
“You know, we’re taking some extra precautions for him because he’s the president of the United States,” Anita Dunn, a senior adviser to the Biden administration, told CNN’s State of the Union when asked why Biden “doesn’t look like does not follow the “new guidelines.

“I think the president takes the CDC guidelines very seriously and has always taken his role as a signal to follow science, also very seriously,” she said.
The agency announced last week that vaccinated Americans could throw away face coatings outdoors unless they were at large gatherings such as concerts.
But Biden said he would continue to wear masks outside, calling it “patriotic responsibility” and “a little caution.”
Other vaccinated people should still feel comfortable following the new guidelines, Dunn said.
“I would say that people should follow the guidelines of the CDC and should benefit from getting the vaccine, vaccinating and removing this mask, especially when the weather is getting so beautiful,” she said.

“As I progress, I think you will see more and more people enjoying this freedom, getting the vaccine and realizing that this is a big step towards normalcy in this country,” she continued.
