They felt she was Sasha Baron Conad.
Borat 2 fans have raised tens of thousands of dollars for Janice Jones, the “moral compass” of the documentary, which she claims was “betrayed” by the directors.
“I thought it would be great to give people a vehicle to give thanks in a tangible way,” said the Rev. Derrick Scoby, pastor of Jones at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Oklahoma, who led the crowdfunding campaign.
In director Cohen’s satirical film, “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm,” Jones, 62, plays the hired babysitter of Borat Tutar’s daughter (played by newcomer Maria Bakalova), who is expected to be married to an elderly man. The Oklahoma-born, however, told The Post that she was tricked by recruiters into thinking the film was a true documentary about the grooming gang.
“I think it̵
It is reported that the elderly citizen found out the truth only when the trailer of the film came out – that’s why her performance on the screen looks so real.
Suffice it to say, fans hoped the cash donations would relieve the pain of Jones’ epic horn.
The Rev. Scobie, who first met the Borat 2 recruiters when they came to Jones Church, launched a GoFundMe page to compensate her properly after she was paid only $ 3,600 for her role. So far, the fundraiser has raised nearly $ 50,000 from his $ 100,000 target by Wednesday morning.
“She is one of the most authentic people I have ever met,” the pastor wrote on the fundraising page. “One good thing that comes out of this is that Janice no longer has to worry about Tutar. She has been worried about this young lady for a year. ”
Contributions are particularly life-changing, as Jones recently lost his job due to COVID-19 after being hired for 32 years on a fundraising page.
