Messi had serious suspicion of injury in order to participate in the match as he recovered from a calf injury, but came to the teen sensation Ansu Fati

Two minutes earlier, international German Ter Stegen fired Marco Reus's blow after Yaden Sancho was dropped in the penalty area by a poor challenge from Barca Nelson Semedo's right back.

Ter Sega Stegen saved four of the 10 penalties he faced in La Liga and UCL with Barcelona. Only six goalkeepers from Spanish clubs have saved more penalties in La Liga and UCL than Ter Stegen since he joined Barcelona in 2014-15.

The draw gives the two sides one point from one match, with the Catalans needing to host Inter Milan on 2 October and the Germans visited Slavia Prague the same day.
