Boston news anchor Alaina Pinto has been fired from WHDH for her role in Adam Sandler’s new Halloween movie Netflix. Hubby Halloween.
“Earlier this week I was released by 7 news,” Pinto wrote on Twitter on Thursday. “I am publishing this because I want to be open and honest with all of you. Last year, I starred in a cameo in Adam Sandler’s recently released Netflix movie “Hubie Halloween.” The film paid homage to the streamer on October 7.
The appearance was a breach of Pinto’s contract, which she said “wrongly violated”.
“I am deeply disappointed and sad and I hoped that this would not be the case,” Pinto wrote. “Thanks to all my wonderful 7 news viewers and my supportive and great colleagues at the station.”
The film focuses on October 31 in Salem, Massachusetts. Sandler, the city’s eccentric, finds himself in the midst of a real investigation into a real killer.
Pinto played a fictional Boston TV presenter, Channel 4 Morning News, and hosted her morning show, Wake Up, Boston. The episode saw Pinto talk about Halloween in Salem while dressed as DC Comics character Harley Quinn.
Prior to joining WHDH, Pinto worked at Fox Local 44 and ABC Local 22 in Burlington, Vermont.
