Earlier tonight Tony Clark of the MLBPA announced that it was investigating Alex Antopoulos for comments made about free agency.
According to Ken Rosenthal of Athletic Clark specifically said "The statements of GM Braves Alex Antopoulos question the integrity of the entire free agent system. The clear description of the coordination of the club is outrageous and we launched an immediate investigation into the matter. "
After Monday's noisy move involving the re-signing of both Tylers Flowers and Nick Markakis, Antopoulos was quoted as saying by the media " You get more information every day. And we had time to connect with 27 of the clubs – obviously the Astros and (Nationals) are in the World Series, they were bound – but we had a chance to find out what other clubs are doing in free agency that is commercially available. ”
The reality of the situation, from Braves' point of view, has little reason to worry too much about it. Antopoulos obviously has not hinted at collusion, and there is nothing in these allegations to prove anything. This is an MLBPA witch hunt that was unhappy with how free agency dropped a year ago. Bryce Harper and Mani Machado took months to join their new teams, while guys like Craig Kimbrel and Dallas Keuchel – All-Star players – had to wait until mid-June.
The MLBPA wants to ensure that it won't be a problem this time, so their fishing is for everyone to make noise. The irony is that Antopoulos would eventually gather this information, and assuming there was no collusion, it would only help speed up the process of free agency.

David O & # 39; Brian from Athletic was one of the members of the media during the interview with Antopoulos when he made these comments. Here's what she had to say:
The Union office called me to ask about Alex's quote, I told them I didn't think it meant anything other than #Braves trying to see what other teams are pursuing free agency to find out who is available in commerce. The Union has done a great job anyway. A way to overcome IMO. https://t.co/WKq7KamhVr records19659007issue – David O & # 39; Brian (@DOBrienATL) November 6, 2019
This was the consensus of baseball writers in America, highlighting how tame the relationship between players and players is management. Anthopoulos could have done better and the MLBPA would be digging around, but if they didn't find something else, it would have to inflate painlessly.
