As early as February, Wilson spoke out against the Beach Boys’ competition at a hunting convention, for which Donald Trump Jr. was the keynote speaker. “There’s nothing we can do in person to stop the show, so please join us in signing the petition at https://www.change.org/p/beach-boys-stop-supporting-trophy-hunting.” he said in time. Love responded that he and the Beach Boys “support freedom of thought and expression as a fundamental principle of our rights as Americans.”
The Love’s Beach Boys previously topped Trump’s inaugural ball in 2017. “It was a touching experience,” he said. Uncut, continuing, “Donald Trump has never been anything but kind to us. We’ve known him for many years. We’ve performed in some of his places in fundraising, etc.”
