The Buffalo Bills moved 6-2 after their win over the Washington Reds on Sunday, while their opponent Cleveland Brown fell 2-6 after losing to the Denver Broncos.
It was a tumultuous season for the Cleveland Browns, who were considered Super Bowl players after their seemingly sensational offseason. Yet, they did not come to excess.
That being said, here are the games to watch when the Buffalo Bills play in Cleveland Browns:
Star Lotuleley, Jordan Phillips vs. Nick Chub, Karim Hunt
The bills supporting the defense seem to have been exposed in the last three weeks, allowing 454 yards in the last three games on earth . This is not good enough for the seemingly elite defense.
Buffalo's defense already allows 111.6 yards per game, which is 19th in the league. Overall, Buffalo has the third-best defense. You can see the discrepancy. In the first half against Washington, running back Adrian Peterson rushed for 101 yards and just couldn't stop. The defense made adjustments in the second half and held it only seven yards, but the Reds were also behind and had to throw.
The Browns have been struggling this season, but their only permanent weapon of offense is Nick Chub. Chubb has 803 rushing yards on 154 attempts, an average of 5.2 yards per carry and six rushing sensors.
Chubb is a dominant runner and has shown he can carry the Browns offense, but has had no consistent touches all season. Fans and the media have cited his lack of touch as one of the reasons Cleveland may not have reached its full potential.
Did I mention that Karim Hunt is coming back? It can be a long day for Buffalo's inside defense. The No. 1 and No. 2 boys in the middle there last week were Star Lotulelei and Jordan Phillips. It remains to be seen what role Ed Oliver and Corey Luget play.
