A man who admitted to having a dead body in his car when he arrived at the Northern California Police Department on Monday then led officers to his apartment, where three more bodies were found, authorities said.
The suspect, who has not been identified by police, arrived at the police station in Mt. Shasta shortly after noon and told officers he killed people in his Roseville apartment more than 200 miles away, according to a police statement.
A man who remained in custody on Monday night told police that one of the bodies was inside his car, the statement said. After confirming this, authorities in Roseville checked the man's apartment and found three more bodies, according to police.
The victims have not been identified, although police say they appear to be "known" to the suspect, who has not been charged. .
Police said they received orders for the man's car and apartment.
The statement adds that the man is the only suspect in the killings and does not appear to be in constant danger.
