California truck driver halts high-speed police chase with murder suspect

A quick-witted driver of a tractor trailer in Southern California said he stopped a car with his platform during a police chase when he heard the man was a suspected killer.

Ahmed Shabaan said he was in his truck with a large platform in the Pomona area, east of Los Angeles, on Tuesday night when he received news of the police chase – and that there was a murder suspect in it – and decided to help by blocking the alleged killer’s pickup while traveling on the road, he told Hannity.

“I saw them chasing him about five blocks before I hit him. I was talking to my friend on the phone. I was telling him, ̵

6;Hey, there’s a car being chased by 40-50 cops,’ and he was like, ‘Yeah, this guy is the killer. “

The police chase followed after Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies tried to confront the murder suspect earlier Tuesday night.

The suspect chased one of the sheriff’s deputies before getting into his pickup truck and walking away, FOX 11 from Los Angeles reported. The chase reportedly lasted more than two hours before Shabaan’s truck and the suspect’s vehicle collided.

“He took the left. So, my intention was really to block the whole intersection,” Shabaan explained, “but while my truck reacted and he fired his truck and I fired mine, we just bumped into each other.”

Sheriff’s staff did not provide any additional information about the case in which the suspect was charged.

Police later detained the suspect after the pickup truck crashed into the trailer, the report said. Shabaan is not wounded.

A passenger in the vehicle reportedly said he did not know the driver – who she said was her friend – on suspicion of murder.
