Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare / Warzone Season 5 adds a new Shadow Company

Call of Duty: The big update for Season 5 of Modern Warfare and Warzone is almost here, and now developer Infinity Ward has offered a few more details on what to expect.

Season 5 features Shadow, a “mysterious new private military company” that is aligned with the Alliance, but only by name.

“An elite PMC, Shadow operates outside the original truce. Made by the fires of Coalition-Allied fighting, the Shadow Company has its own framework and program,” Infinity Ward said in a blog post.

The Shadow Company is a “splitting group”

; that has become impatient with Captain Price and his leadership. The squad comes to Modern Warfare to “deal directly with terrorist threats.”

Shadow includes new operators Rozlin “Roze” Helms (previously aligned with the Jackals faction), along with Velikan and Marcus “Lerch” Ortega.

Lerch is a former Marine from Plano, Texas, who is struggling to readjust to civilian life, so he joined a private military company. “There is no contract that Lerch will not take on or face a challenge that he will not face. This is how he finds himself in Vardansk, managing the other operators of Shadow,” Infinity Ward said.

There is less detail about the Giant, which is described as a “shadow of a shadow.”

“Tales of his exploits are written off as tales at best and gross exaggerations at worst. Those who know him never speak ill of him. Whether due to fear or respect, no one knows.” said Infinity Ward.

As for Rose, we know nothing about her beyond her jackal roots.

More details should be available soon, as season 5 is expected to be released in the first week of August for PS4, Xbox One and PC. A new Battle Pass is also coming. For now, you can check out the new trailer for Season 5 above.

In other news, Modern Warfare and Warzone now offer dual XP, which comes at the right time for those who want to go through the ranks and demand more items from Battle Pass.

GameSpot can receive a commission from retail offers.
