Canelo Alvarez vs. Sergei Kovalev Battle Results: Live Boxing Updates, Cards, Highlights

LAS VEGAS – Canelo Alvarez will appear to be joining the exclusive list of great Mexican fighters of all time as he fights for his fourth title in so many weight classes in Las Vegas. Alvarez (52-1-2, 35 KOs), the unified and linebacker middleweight champion, will cross divisions to challenge WBO light heavyweight title holder Sergei Kovalev (34-3-1, 29 KOs) in the Grand Event MGM Arena Garden.

The 36-year-old Kovalev will have a distinct size advantage, but must answer questions about the chin, the resistance to body strokes and the durability of late in duels. The Russian-born man needed multiple scale visits on Friday and was disfigured to win 1

75 pounds. He also has a rehydration clause to meet the next morning. Alvarez could make a stronger case for first place on most pounds pounds lists after a 12-month period in which he would win a secondary middleweight title, combine 160 pounds and win the light heavyweight title.
