With his first victory in his hometown of Ferrari after Alonso in 201
It was not a climb after a lap that was Leclerc's first victory last week in Belgium, but the 21-year-old Monegasque still struggled to keep both Mercedes cars in his rearview mirror for the entire race.
There were two dramatic moments for Leclerc and his Mercedes rivals, however, as Lewis Hamilton approached the lead in laps 33 and 34. The drama later returned on lap 42 when Hamilton proved to be missing chic, placing teammate Valterie Botas in second place. The boots, with fresher tires than Hamilton, still failed to carry on.
With two consecutive wins, Leclerc claims his place in a Ferrari Formula 1 car and gives Tifosi his hometown. that they expect from their best drivers. Although Vettel sits deep in 13th place today, it looks like Ferrari drivers still have reason to cheer. Still, Hamilton and Bottas remain at the top of the leaderboard, with Max Verstappen (whose race today was a disappointment from the 8th place finish) standing between Ferrari drivers and their rivals in Mercedes.
Although Hamilton failed to get through Bottas or Leclerc, he still had the fastest lap today, so it's hard to see how the competition between Ferrari and Mercedes could get hotter. As we enter Singapore and the last third of the season, we have to watch out for the rivalry between red and silver. It is unlikely to die any time soon if this pace is maintained.
