CHELSEA, Manhattan (WABC) –
L trains descend again after flooding by a broken plumbing and stopped several blocks in the Chelsea neighborhood in Manhattan. – including switches and motors – were submerged by the interruption, and all of them had to be removed, repaired or replaced.
The full service was restored immediately after noon.
The interruption of the 20-inch main signal was reported at about 5:45 am on Seventh Avenue and 14th Street in Chelsea.
The crews of the utilities responded and turned off the water, which quickly pulled away.
However, water has been affected by residents living on Seventh Avenue. The gas service was also interrupted for a handful of customers
The interruption briefly flooded the streets and poured water at the nearby metro station. The following streets were closed for traffic as cleaning and repairs took place: 7th Avenue between 1
