Chris Cyborg vs. Arlene Blancow

Cris Cyborg has once again added another element to the most impressive summary in women’s MMA history.

The only fighter of both sexes to hold championships in four major promotions, Cyborg (23-2 MMA, 2-0 BMA) made the first successful defense of his Bellator featherweight title on Thursday night and scored the first victory of his career in process.

Cyborg sent Australian Arlene Blanc with a rear throttle to 2:36 in the second round to keep her seat in the Bellator 249 main event at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn

“I’m really working hard because I had my first application in MMA,”

; Cyborg said in an interview after the fight. “I’ve never done this before since the beginning of my career, it’s a dream come true and I’m so happy.”

There seemed little doubt about the outcome of the battle from the beginning. The cyborg initiated the action by moving forward and landing kicks with his feet. Blanco (13-8 MMA, 6-4 BMMA) made an attempt to prevent the whirlwind of cyborgs, but in response there was fierce pressure.

The cyborg overtook Blanco 62-4 in the course of the battle. When she put Blankou on the mat in the first, she telegraphed her intentions by going to choke. She didn’t get it there. But in the second, the Cyborg got down, rained down from a full set, and finally got an opening for its RNC final.

Cyborg’s first career victory was her 19th career finish. Blencoweha series of three games to win.
