Christopher Kraft, creator of mission control at Houston, who brought Apollo astronauts safely to Earth – an obituary

C Christopher Kraft, 95, died as an aviation engineer and key leader in Nassa during his first manned space flights, and later he continued to lead the first flights to the moon. He died two days after the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11, making the first landing of humanity in another world.

Kraft creates the mission control concept based in Houston, Texas, the city whose call became synonymous with communications between the Earth and the orbiting astronauts. He also creates a command system that places command of space missions firmly in the hands of NASA's chiefs of air on the ground, not cosmonauts in space.
