Clark's Cancer Update and the Father's Day message

Major league baseball makes a big deal with prostate cancer to encourage families and men to make sure they look after themselves and make sure they have no silent killer. I've been very public in the air for a long time because I've been diagnosed with prostate cancer over the last decade, and when I approach Father's Day, I wanted to give you an update for my trip. have never had treatment for my cancer. There were a lot of people who were very dissatisfied with me – including people in the medical sphere – who feel that I am reckless, careless and create danger to others by encouraging what they feel, reckless or dangerous behavior.

Many people are in the community where the culture among doctors is that if any cancer is detected, it should be treated immediately. Also, many patients who hear the word "cancer" get tortured and receive immediate treatment

I want to share with you some things, including new information I have just received over the past few weeks about what is happening with cancer me.

Prostate cancer, some skin cancers and breast cancer are different from many other cancers, as there are different genetic forms of cancer with different levels of risk and consequences.

Medical researchers already know that approximately 40% of prostate cancer patients have an extremely slow-growing cancer, with which they will die, not from. The problem today is that we do not know who is in those 40%, so it requires a process known as "active surveillance." This process was originally called "vigilant waiting".

If it appears to fit the profile of someone with an early stage of cancer that at least initially does not look dangerous, which can be validated over time with biopsies, and in recent years, MRIs

Since 2006 I have 1

2 biopsies and, I think, four MRIs. I am on a schedule that has been adapted over time as my cancer has not shown significant growth over these years.

The same thing happens right now – and there is no publicity – with medical research involving breast cancer. , where there are some types of early-stage breast cancer that are not considered life-threatening but over-treated. There are doctors who devote their lives to breast cancer to try to understand that in many cases treatment is unnecessary and only breast cancer equivalent is required under active surveillance. just as others have extremely dangerous prostate cancers.

For prostate cancer, there is a scale other than that you probably used for stage I, although IV with other cancers. It is called the Gleason Score and it goes 6, 7 and then. The bigger the number, the worse it is for you, the lower the number, the better. People who are Gleason 6s and many Gleason 7s are good candidates for active surveillance.

It is important that prostate cancer is not frightened. The Prostate Cancer Fund has a very good regular English guide for what you need to know if you are diagnosed with prostate cancer. If you, a family member or a friend, are diagnosed with prostate cancer and feel upset or anxious, read this guide and you will have a better sense of what to do. that I was reckless, I just disagree. I was very careful about how I was doing this, and I would not do anything stupid. My MRI does not show any dangerous types of cancer, and the biopsy has found what she has discovered over the years, which is minimal, very low-grade cancer – Gleason Score 6.

So the protocol is that I went out every six months with tests, once a year, every 18 months to a two-year cycle – and now I'm on a 30-month cycle. So, after two and a half years, if something does not happen in mid-term, it's worrying to be checked again.

I want you to know that as patients, you and I are unprofessional. We have no medical knowledge. I'm terrible in science. But I was very motivated. They read medical magazines, not who knows the blog. I have to sit down with a glossary of medical terms while reading to understand what the researchers say, but I want to be as knowledgeable as I can.

That's what I want to encourage you to do. Do not try to tell a doctor what to do – not at all. The doctor has excellent knowledge. He or she has spent many years at school. But they are not God.

You have to manage your own health and you have to be your own lawyer. Be prepared with knowledge, and do not enter simply as a sheep, do what you have been told.

I encourage you with your wallet to be an intelligent user. I encourage you with your health to be an intelligent user.

There is an old saying that "you want to keep dad in the game" and that's what you do. If your husband, father, friend or anything else that is not verified and is 50 years old, the first step is to make sure you are healthy. you know what to do next – and may not include treatment.
